On Friday, September 27, 2013 BUILDS hosted a Intro to Git and Github workshop run by Christopher Woodall and aided by Danny Cooper, Allan Wirth and George Silvis, III. About 15 people came to BUILDS in MCS B26 to learn about git, how we use git and how to use github. The focus of the content was to walk through some demos and get the students familiar with a git workflow and version control. The slides are available on the BUILDS Workshops Github Repository.

BUILDS has qualified for the finals of NYU-Poly’s CSAW (Cyber-Security Awareness Week) Capture-The-Flag competition. This event has teams from around the world competing to solve computer security challenges.
Starting at 6:00pm on Thursday, September 19 to 6:00pm on Sunday, September 22nd BUILDS is competing in CSAW CTF 2013 Qualifiers. You can keep track of our ranking and scores on the CSAW CTF 2013 Scoreboard. This competition is 72 hours long and member of BUILDS will be in MCS B26 frequently over the next few days. If you are interested in participating you should drop in. Only undergrads are permitted to play with the main BUILDS team.

On September 13th and September 14th BUILDS hosted two introductory seminars: Intro to Python/Unix and Intro to CTF. The seminars were designed to go together with the intent of introducing new members to programming, and working in a unix environment so that they can participate in the upcoming Cyber Security Awareness Week (CSAW) capture the flag (CTF) competition running from September 19th to September 22nd.
